Telecoms & Internet Night |
|
Since May 1996, in conjunction with the Capital Club in Beijing, BDA has hosted a regular series of 'Telecoms and Internet Nights'. These events are designed to bring together representatives from both the foreign and Chinese telecoms community in Beijing in a relaxed and informal setting in order to exchange views on topics of interest. |

Objectives & Participants |
|
Foreign participants include Chief Representatives or other senior executives from telecoms service providers and equipment vendors, information technology companies, Internet access and content providers. The Telecoms & Internet Nights also attract a regular participation of industry experts from foreign Embassies in Beijing as well as telecoms consultants, lawyers, financial intermediaries and other professionals. Visiting senior executives and foreign government representatives are also welcome to attend. Each Telecoms & Internet Night has at least a 2/3 majority participation of telecommunications companies to ensure that the event is responsive to topics of interest among senior telecoms executives. These include the prospects for (i) regulatory reform, (ii) tariff reform, (iii) the domestic competitive landscape (for both the services and equipment market), (iv) technology standards (v) legal & financing considerations, (vi) the Internet. In addition, Telecoms & Internet Nights enable the foreign telecoms community in Beijing to meet senior regulatory or company officials from China in an informal setting. Representatives to date have included a Deputy Director-General of China Telecom, a Department Director of the State Development and Planning Commission, representatives of Beijing Telecom and the Data Communications Bureau of China Telecom. |

Resident telecoms and Internet executives in China, or telecoms and Internet executives visiting Beijing, are welcome to attend. Upcoming Telecoms & Internet Nights are posted on this website under Upcoming Events.
