Duncan Clark

Founding Partner (Beijing)

Founded BDA in 1994.

Specialises in regulatory issues, investment and strategic advisory services for foreign telecoms service providers, due diligence, partnership assistance, and advisory work for domestic telecoms and Internet companies.

Recent BDA projects include business case preparation and foreign partner search for a nationwide Internet Service Provider in China. Prior to founding BDA, served as Financial Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley (Hong Kong and London), where he specialized in telecommunications and technology M&A, financing and advisory transactions in Asia and Europe. Clients included BT, Telia, Ericsson, Alcatel, and key European carriers undergoing privatisation.

Graduate of the London School of Economics (B.Sc. Hons), 1990.
Working knowledge of Mandarin.

Alexandra Rehak

Partner (Hong Kong)

Joined BDA in 1998.

Specialises in market forecasting, competitive analysis, due diligence, and strategic advisory services for telecoms equipment manufacturers and service providers.

Prior to joining BDA, served as Principal Consultant with PA Consulting Group in Hong Kong, specialising in due diligence and market strategy for telecoms operators and financial institutions in Asia. Other prior positions include Director, Asia-Pacific, Pyramid Research (Singapore and Hong Kong); Senior Associate (China), Pyramid Research; Consultant, Link Resources (International Data Corp.); and Assistant Editor of US-based international traffic statistics yearbook Telegeography.

Graduate of Brown University (B.Sc. Hons), 1988; Johns Hopkins University
Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (M.A.), 1993. Also studied at Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China.

Brenda Yang

Joined BDA in 1997.

Specialises in company representation services. Assisted opening of international roaming with China for three European GSM operators.

Patrick Cowan

Chairman

In addition to these China-based consultants, London-based Patrick Cowan joined BDA as company Chairman in 1998. Pat was previously Chief Representative in Beijing of Cable and Wireless plc (1995-1997), where he oversaw the establishment of the company's China business unit. Pat spent over 40 years with C&W and its subsidiary companies, heading up business development for Europe (1992-1994), establishing C&W Network Services (1989-1992), heading the International Business Unit of Mercury Communications (1986-1992), and running the international operations of Hongkong Telecom (1979-1986). He is also a co-founder of Interoute, one of Europe's fastest-growing international traffic resellers. Pat brings to BDA and its clients many years of experience in both the telecoms industry and in China business.
